I am afraid you are right. I do not know who did the odd job in my brain,
but a bunch of connections must be loose. I know the limit is a bit foggy
between the fall of Byzantium, the "discovery of America, the Reformation
and I have even seen 1540 or 1560, but each country may have its own. I mean
for example: was Lorenzo de Medici (who died in 1492) a Renaissance ruler,
could the war of the Roses mark the limit in England? In France, the switch
is usually place 1 Jan 1515, death of Louis XII - 25 Jan 1515, coronation of
Francois I. Anyway, certainly not 1683-87. Sorry!
And thank you for pointing at it so I do not look like a fool longer than
necessary.
