Here it is. As you can see, it is all too easy to play name games with
the Roman naming system.
I got the book by asking a friend living in Paris at the time to go to the
publishers and buy one for me: Editions Christian, 5, rue Alphonse Baudin
75011 Paris. List price 195FF, ISBN 2-906483-28-1. Editions CHristian
did not respond to a letter. I think the arguments made on CHarlemagne's
ancestry are interesting and if nothing else serve as a good introduction
to the issues and the literature. Its still a book worth getting, though
it will certainly be superseded by Part II of Settipani & van
Kerrebrouck's Prehistoire des Capetiens, if that ever sees the light of
day.
