At one time, I briefly attempted to research a Jew family in
Worcestershire, because I was researching the Maris family, and the
will of Richard Maris of Grafton Flyford, Worcs. (d. 1641) mentioned a
kinswoman Katherine Jew. Although I found nothing of value to my own
research, one thing I noticed should be kept in mind for those
researching this family. One obvious alternate spelling that should
be checked is "Jue". What is not immediately obvious is that, since
"I" and "J" were sometimes used interchageably during this period, and
"u" and "v" were also, the name "Jue" could appear on documents as
"Ive", and one should therefore not overlook the spelling "Ive" when
researching the Jew family.
