: My line is the John Drake/Elizabeth Crandall one.

: The LDS lib has an extensive Drake line that traces back to John Drake
: 1330/Christian Billett 1354. This marriage gave the Billett seat at Ashe
: into the line. Son John Drake 1388 married Christian Antage 1392; then
: his son John Drake 1418 who married the dau of John Cruwys lost the seat to
: an interloper who gained it illegally. These were called the "Otterton
: Drakes".

: This last John Drake's son, John b. 1448 m. Agnes Kelloway. Their son
: John, b. 1477 who had brothers Richard and Robert* (More about Robert
: below) reclaimed Ashe.

: This John married Margaret Cole 1476 and they had a son John Drake,
: 1535-1588 who married Annie Grenville 1513-1577/8 (from a very long line of
: Grenville knights to 1238)

: Their son, Robert Drake 1559-1600 m. Elizabeth Prideaux 1523 and their
: daughter Elizabeth 1585-1670 m. John Crandall 1586-1676

: My line then goes into
: CRANDALL/BABCOCK/TANNER/WEST/SOULE/COSGROVE/MUNSON/MANCHESTER

: I'm on my way to Salt Lake in a few days and will recheck the above--I
: understand that many of the midieval records have been checked over and
: corrected.

: Cheers, Jeanette Manchester Harris

The Crandall family association now asserts that Elder John Crandall
who died 29 Nov 1696 was probably the son of a James Crandall and
compare the Drake ancestry to a fairy tale. See

This one's a dandy.
