I try to find time for reading here, Tom, but have little time
for more thorough research at present.

I have been looking through some of this materials, however, and
so far I have only found Snorri Sturluson giving informations
about the mother of Halvdan. He names her Esa, daughter of Harald
Granraudi, king of Agder.

Gudrxd Gofuglati (The Haughty) or Veidikonung (Hunter King) is
named as his father by Snorri (Heimskringla), Ari
(Islendingabok), Fagrskinna, Agrip af Sogu Danakonunga, Historia
Norvegiae and Flateyabok.

Agrip af Noregskonunga Sogum and Theodricus Monachus mention
Halvdan, but not his parents.
