The parents of Philippa (b. 1355) were Lionel of Antwerp (d. 1368) and
Elizabeth de Burgh (d. 1363), only daughter of William de Burgh (d. 1313),
Earl of Ulster. Lionel was the son of Edward III, king of England. Lionel's
siblings included Edward, the Black Prince, and John of Gaunt.

See the article, "Lionel of Antwerp, Earl of Ulster and Duke of Clarence
(1338-1368," in the Dictionary of National Biography. See also Weis' The Magna
Charta Sureties, 1215 -- Line 161, No. 18 (where her parent's marriage date
probably suffers from a typo if you have the 1982 edition). All are probably
listed in Weis' Ancestral Roots..., also.

In Margaret Wade Labarge's The Small Sound of the Trumpet: Women in Medieval
Life, pgs. 89- , there is very interesting information given on the Burghs and
Philippa's grandmother, the Lady of Clare, who founded Clare College at
Cambridge. If you like knowing more than just the statistics, you will find
this interesting.
