I do not have ready access to a copy of Gustaf Elgenstierna's "Den
Introducerade Svenska Adelns Attartavlor", so I will see what my friends
at S.G.M. know. (Danmarks Adels Aarbog and Svensk Adels Kalender may
come in handy here as well.)

My objective is to find the details of an assumed ancestral connection
to King Erik X Knutsson of Sweden (lived about 1190-1216) and Valdemar
the Great of Denmark.

Among my ancestors is the Swedish noble family of Rosenstrale of
Sonstorp, Hallestads Socken, Ostergotlands Lan, Sweden. Elgenstierna
follows the Rosenstrale line back to the 1300's. Along the way the
Rosenstrale men married into some notable old Scandinavian noble
families. Among them are Sparre, Ka"rling, and Tre Rutor. What follows
is a brief ahnentafel outlining a segment of my Rosenstrale ancestry
starting with my 12-greats grandfather, Jons Eriksson Rosenstrale:

Margareta Jonsdotter daughter of Jons Andersson and Kristina Persdotter
of Gladhem.

2. Erik Jonsson Rosenstrale (b. bef. 1515 d. about 1565)

4. Jons Eriksson Rosenstrale (b. bef 1473 d. 1515-1520)

5. Kristina Birgersdotter Sparre med Blad (b. bef. 1473 d. aft. 1526)

6. Palne Nilsson Horn med Stjerna from Ottinge, Lofta Socken, Kalmer Lan

8. Erik Holmstensson Rosenstrale (b. bef. 1432 d. bef. 1479)

9. Gunnur Torbernsdotter (b. bef. 1432 d. aft. 1500)

10. Birger Jonsson Sparre med Blad, Haradshovdingen in Hanekinds Harad

11. Ramborg Andersdotter Tre Rutor pa' en Sned Bja"lke of Slestad

Everything in the above ahnentafel comes directly from Elgenstierna's
"Rosenstrale" entry.

Now on to the point of my lengthy posting. I think this all connects
somehow to King Erik X and Valdemar the Great. Erik X and his wife
Rikissa Valdemarsdotter had a daughter named Ma"rta Eriksdotter (born
about 1210-1216) who was married to Nils Sparre of Tofta. This is
according to A'ke Ohlmarks' "Alla Sveriges Drottningar". I have seen
this mentioned elsewhere, but I cannot remember where right now. I
assume it is true.

I am looking for the connection between my ancestors with the name
Sparre and this Nils Sparre of Tofta or any other Erik or Valdemar
connection you may see in my ahnentafel.

I deeply appreciate any answers or direction you may offer me. I expect
the answer lies in a currently-inaccessible-to-me copy of Elgenstierna's
Attartavlor, Danmarks Adels Aarbog, or Svensk Adels Kalender.
