I have both books, "The Plantagenet Chronicles" and "Four Gothic Kings."
I find them excellent companions to the mere listing of who begat whom in
genealogical reference books. In fact, the story about Edward II
escaping his captors is found in "Four Gothic Kings," although the book
didn't grant much credence to the tale. I don't know that they are still
in print though--they were originally published by Weidenfeld & Nicolson,
a Division of Wheatland Corp., 10 East 53rd St., NY, NY 10022. They're
worth tracking down.
