In an article dated 11 Nov, James A. Stevens says: "I
have experienced some difficulty with the genealogy of Marie of
Champaign/ Blois =8A"
I cannot resist (though I probably should) the
temptation to extend the line of Marie of Champagne somewhat
farther than may be called for in each direction: from
Charlemagne to immigrants to New England.

Weis lists the wife of Theobald III (generation 9) as
Alix de Crepi. This was questioned some time ago by Todd
=46armerie. Europaische Stammtafeln [ES] ii, 46, lists three
wives for Theobald III: (1) Gersende of Main, renounced 1048;
(2) Gundrada; and (3) Adela (Alix) de Crepy. ES lists Stephen
Henry as son of the second wife. Weis does not seem to include
generations 12 and 13; they are included in ES, below.

Generations 6-12, as listed above, seem to correspond
fairly closely to Stevens's report of the line based on
Allstrom's "Dictionary of Royal Lineage." The second line
listed by Stevens seems to be mixed up. For example, I believe
Theobald II and Eudes II are brothers--both sons of Eudes I.
