Peter:

That depends upon what you will accept as a published lineage. If you will
accept the Herald's Visitations (i.e., 1530), histories of the Shires (i.e.,
Yorkshire), or Pedigrees (i.e., Hailfax) then perhaps you may find some
satisfaction. From my perspective, and I think that it may be true for
many noble seekers, one finds a "thinness" in material from the late 13th
century until the 16th, and in some cases even later than that, if one begins
with a DE LACY basefile (i.e. Elmedon) and begins to work forward. One
may begin by consulting the manuscripts of the Thoresbys Society, VOl. 28,
1928, for further information on documented lineages.

Antiquaries may also be of some assitance to you. One would not be
helping one's self to limit a search to England, and instead one may find
additional information in Dublin at Trinity and at the National Library.
Additionally, a review of the Bibliogrpahy in the Encyclopedia of
National Biographies will yield a list of many antiquarian manuscripts for
further study. You may be surprized by the number available.

Do read Wifred E. Wightman's "The Lacy Family of England and Normandy" if
you have not. He has compiled an enormous research of the family into a
one volume book, beginning in Calvados and culminating at Ludlow
(Worchester) about the end of the 14th century. He included genealogies and
lineage charts. He hastened to add that the family transfered to Ireland,
which may account for some of the thinness found in English manuscripts.

Good luck! You may be able to unlock some secrets for the rest of us.

Regards.
