Hi, LACYies
Sorry for not paying a visit for a while but..
(I found the ways now HOW I can read old articles.
Do not mind about my yesterday complains that I could not find "the old
read articles any more" It is OK now.
Here is the same copy of my letter from yesterday without the complains
and put on "thread" correctely I hope)
Thank's for the reply
Yes you are quite right about:
Count Peter LACY, Field Marshal Distinguished Irish soldier in the
Imperial Russian service.
The story I saw and have a copy (some yers ago) of is (probable?) from:
The Modern Encyclopedia of Russian and Soviet History (ed. J. L.
Wieczynski)
In: vol 17 (?) you find LACY, Peter (1678-1751).
... written by Patrick J. O'Meara
Peter Lacy's story is very fantastic - worth a movie.
He even chased the Swedes around Helsinki (where I am living).
However, this is not the reason to my interest. I was looking after a
Field Marshal (refered to as) Lesly or Lesli (in translated Russian text).
As I could not find any Field Marshal or any other Lesli, I found Peter
Lacy the Field Marshal.
I wonder now if Lesly or Lesli could be the same person? or can somebody
inform me who is (Field Marshal, according to Swedish quells) Lesly or
Lesli, as the daughter Anna was married to one of my grandfathers Ivan
Andrejevitch Engelhardt in 17-- (something) according to the quells
(Russian Genealogy (Engelhardts) by Prince Lobanoff-Rostoffskij, 1895).
Thanks in advance
Peter
