I am seeking comments and advice on the following two bits of
information that have been provided to me.

"In the 1400s HUDSPETHs of great antiquity were to be found in
Northumberland, England."

[My ancestor, Ralph HUDSPETH, is alleged to have
been born about 1662 in Corbridge, Northumberland.]

"HEX TILDESPETHE is probably the original name of the HUDSPETHs.
In 1160 Hex tildespethe, wife of Richard CUMYN, witnessed her
husband's grant of the church of Lyntun ruderic to Kelso Abbey.
She was the daughter and heiress of Gothic or Uchtred, son and
heir of Donalbane, King of Scots."

[My limited research shows that there was a Hextilda
(daughter of Uchtred) who was married to Malcolm, 2nd
Earl of Atholl (d. before 14 Oct 1198).]

I'll appreciate any guidance on how to research the medieval roots
of my HUDSPETH family.
