Yes. See the article in vol. 1, number 1 (1981, I think) of *The
Genealogist* (the one published by the Association for the Promotion of
Scholarship in Genealogy), on the children of Joan, where this issue is
explored. It turns out that there was a Welsh custom, or habit, of giving
the same name to more than one child.
