Not as much as you may think, since one can have the same ancestors more
than once. In other words, cousins of some degree can and often do
marry one another. For example, my mother and father were 8th cousins
1 time removed, both being descended from Henry WOLCOTT and his wife
Elizabeth SAUNDERS, early New England settlers. I'm also descended
from two different children of Thomas WELLES and Alice TOMES, also
early New England settlers, and from two children of one of those
children. So some, perhaps a lot, of generations, I don't have a
full set of ancestors. I suppose that your argument shows that this
is the case with everyone.
