The Angelina County Genealogical Society will meet for its regular monthly
meeting at 5 p.m. Monday, April 16, 2007, in the community room of Kurth
Memorial Library, 706 South Raguet Street, Lufkin, Texas.
The program will be presented by Mrs. Carla Karbowski Clifton who is the
volunteer coordinator of the Angelina County, Texas, Page on the U. S.
GenWeb Project at http://www.rootsweb.com/~txangeli.
The society officers for the calendar year 2007 are Vivian Cates-President,
Fred Preston-Vice-President, and June Moffett-Treasurer. The office of
secretary is currently vacant. Any member interested in assuming the office
of secretary for the remainder of 2007 should contact the society president.
An executive board meeting will be held at 4 p.m. in the library prior to
the regular society meeting at 5 p.m. All standing committee chairmen are
urged to attend. Items of business important to the society will be
discussed.
Ellen Pyle has very graciously volunteered to assume the duties of society
newsletter editor. Her phone number and mailing address are listed under
Ben M. Pyle in the Lufkin Telephone Directory though she lives near Apple
Springs in Trinity County. Please contact Ellen with any newsletter items.
Ellen has almost finished the Spring Newsletter. Her plans are to
experiment with e-mailing it to those members who have current active e-mail
addresses. This will save on volunteer time making and collating copies in
the library, postage and copying costs.
Newsletter items for the fall newsletter will now be accepted for
publication in about October. All items having an Angelina County, Texas,
connection or of interest to genealogy researchers in general will be
considered.
Contact Ellen or send items by regular mail to the society at Post Office
Box 150631, Lufkin, Texas 75915 or leave them at the desk in the Ora
McMullen Genealogy Room in the Kurth Memorial Library. Queries about
Angelina County people and Angelina County topics are especially requested.
Of course query preference will be given to society members and then to
non-members on a space available basis.

Dues for the 2007 calendar year are now past due but will be accepted any
time during the year for that calendar year. Dues amounts are posted on the
web page. Of course new society members are always welcome any time of the
year.
