Genealogy and Geography are inextricably linked. Many family history
researchers don’t realize the value of geographical resources fot their
genealogical research.
Erin will provide an overview of maps, showing how maps you might not
consider including in your search can provide valuable clues to your
research. She will introduce you to a couple of non-map geographical
resources critical to your research success.
Kathy will discuss the unique qualities of Beers Landowner Atlases and
show you how to access free images of your ancestor’s hometown, and
possibly his homestead, at piperpublishing.com.

About Piper Publishing and the Beers Atlases
Erin Nikitchyuk learned to love family history at the knees of her
grandmother. In 1996 she started seriously pursuing her genealogical
interests, which include Irish Famine immigrants in New England, Germans
through Pennsylvania and Ohio, and a stray Welsh line in the South. She
is the former Director of Sales for the New England Historic
Genealogical Society (NEHGS) where one of her responsibilities was the
evaluation and selection of products for the NEHGS bookstore. She now
partners with Kathy Rubin on projects with Piper Publishing.
Kathy Rubin is the owner of Piper Publishing, a press specializing in
small but significant popular historical academic collections, mainly
from the late 18th century to the mid-19th century, in print and
electronic formats. Reviewers and customers loved Piper Publishing’s
reproductions of the historic Beers Atlases of Massachusetts on CD-Rom
in county compilations. Now Piper Publishing offers individual maps in
printed and digital format. See www.piperpublishing.com for free map
image downloads of Massachusetts and Connecticut locations.
