Subject: [GEN-EVENTS] British Isles Family History Society - U. S. A.
Date: Tue, 20 Mar 2007 23:46:28 EDT
The British Isles Family History Society, U. S. A. monthly meeting is on
Sunday March 25, 2007 at the Los Angeles Regional Family History Center 10741
Santa Monica Blvd., W. LA.
The meeting starts at 1 PM. Our speaker will be Colleen Fitzpatrick, Ph.D
who will be speaking on "Forensic Genealogy: Analyzing old Photographs."
Forensic scientists and genealogists share the same goal -- to find out who was
who, and who did what and when. Forensic genealogy emphasizes the creative
parts of an investigation over the mechancis. It offers new ways of getting the
most from your old reference material. Have you ever thought of looking at
the edges of old photographs to find out if they are from the same roll, or
the backs to place them in chronological order?
Colleen Fitzpatrick, Ph. D. is the author of Forensic Genealogy and
co-author of DNA and Genealogy. She is a "recognized expert in optic and laser
measurement technologies for NASA." Colleen is also an avid genealogist and group
administrator for the Fitzpatrick DNA project.
At 3:30 PM, will be the Welsh Study Group with Annie Lloyd. "How Do you
Find where your Ancestor came from in Wales when the US Census only says born in
"Wales?" Some tips and ideas on how to find where in Wales your ancestry
came from.
Remember, our meeting starts at 1 PM on Sunday, March 25, 2007 at the Los
