Joan M. Lowry,
I'm very interested in tracing my ancestors to the Revolutionary War.
I'm presently in California and hopefully will be visiting New Jersey & New
York next summer to further research my ancestors.
Do you have any material available to assist in my research?
Your surname is interesting, my ancestors on my mother's side of the family,
name is spelled Lawry from England....
Thank You,
M. Richard Mitchell

Hello Everyone!
Veterans Day and Military Research -- can you imagine a better pairing of
topic and date? What a wonderful way to honor your military ancestors! Join
us in Trenton NJ on Saturday, 11 November 2006, and find out how to
investigate your military family members!
Everyone is invited to join GSNJ for our 85th Annual Meeting and Fall
Lectures. This event is being co-sponsored by the New Jersey State
Archives, whose assistance with this event is gratefully acknowledged and
greatly appreciated. We will be presenting four lectures devoted to
research in military records that should be of interest to anyone with
military members in their family - near or far, NJ and non-NJ!
The topics and speakers will be:
Tracing Your Revolutionary War Ancestor at the New Jersey State Archives, by
Catherine Stearns Medich
The Veteran's Reverie: Researching Genealogy (Military Biography) at the
U.S. Army Military History Institute, by MSgt. Richard Baker
Website and Database Sources for Military Research at the New Jersey State
Archives, by Veronica L. Calder
Uncle Sam Wants You! Twentieth-Century Military Research, by Larry Fermi
The location for the event will be Trenton NJ. We will meeting in the NJ
State Museum Auditorium and the adjacent NJ State Archives Building, at 225
West State St. There will be book vendors and BooksNJ: the Capital
Bookstore will be open. Tours of the NJ State Archives will be available
during the lunch hour for the first 25 people to request them. Box lunches
will be provided. Door prizes will be awarded.
This exciting all day event will be preceded by GSNJ's 85th Annual Meeting,
a short business meeting. The business meeting portion of the day is open
to the public and free of charge.
Additional information, pricing, and registration forms will be posted on
the GSNJ website: www.gsnj.org in the very near future. You can also find
more information on the event on the NJ State Archives websites, which are:
<www.njarchives.org> or <www.state.nj.us/state/darm/links/archives.html>.
We ask that you register by 3 November so that you are guaranteed a printed
syllabus and a lunch. Brochures and registration forms will be going out to
GSNJ members shortly. If you have any questions - let us know!
(Please excuse my cross posting this to several lists at one time, but we
want to get the word out!)
Regards,
Joan
