"Researching Your Catholic Ancestors Using the Records of the Archdiocese
of Chicago."
 
Ginger Frere is a librarian, researcher and life-long Chicagoan. She assists
genealogists in the Local and Family History section of the Newberry Library
and also works as an independent researcher. Ms. Frere will present
"Researching Your Catholic Ancestors: Using the Records of the Archdiocese
of Chicago." Ms. Frere will cover topics such as: the history of the
archdiocese, types of sacramental records, methods for locating the right
parish and the important role of the church in our ancestors' lives. She
will use samples of various types of records to show the surprising types of
information church records sometimes contain.
