"DNA & Genealogy" follows with the details on what DNA analysis is and
how it can be used to reach beyond conventional documentation to find
new family relationships. DNA & Genealogy has something for everyone,
the basics for "Newbies" just getting their feet wet, as well as info on
cladograms and surname structure for experienced researchers already
administering their own surname studies. Everyone will enjoy the
interesting sidebars on "DNA in the News" and "Weird DNA" that include
explanations of cloning, gene, descriptions of the DNA analysis of the
Tyrolean Ice Man, and the specifics of exo-biology DNA.

"DNA & Genealogy" was introduced at the Family Tree DNA Second
International Conference on Genetic Genealogy held in November 2005 at
National Geographic Headquarters in Washington DC. "DNA & Genealogy" is
a follow-on to "Forensic Genealogy", and gives a more detailed
explanation on what you can learn through Y- and mtDNA testing. There
are also sections on how to find out if your surname already has a DNA
study in progress, how to join a study, and how to form your own.

HOW DOES THIS TELECONFERENCE WORK?
This is a phone seminar. Each participant calls the teleconference
number at the appointed time to listen to presentation segments on the
subject. Listeners will be muted during the presentation segments, then
during Question and Answer periods, you will be able to converse with
the presenters.

WILL I BE ABLE TO ASK SPECIFIC QUESTIONS ABOUT MY FAMILY HISTORY?
Yes. Frequently asked questions will be addressed in the presentation,
especially: how to view the family traditions and stories about the
"Indian Princess", where to do research, how to calculate the heritage
percentage based on documentation, what various requirements are for
heritage "rights" and what DNA tests will tell you.
You should also prepare specific questions before the teleconference and
submit them by email to but you will also have
the opportunity to ask additional questions during the session.
