Martha Everman Jones Ph.D. is a native Texan, born in Beeville. Her family
moved to Victoria during her junior high school days. Dr. Jones is a
graduate of Victoria High School, the University of Texas in Austin with a
degree in music education, the University of Houston-Victoria with a master
s degree in reading education and a Ph.D. from Texas A&M in College Station
in Education Curriculum and Instruction.
Kenneth and Martha Everman Jones have two sons living in Austin, Jason and
David. The Jones are active members of the First Presbyterian Church where
Martha sings in the choir and rings handbells.
Dr. Jones taught in the Victoria Independent School District and retired
from the Victoria College in 2002.
For many years Dr. Jones has written a weekly genealogy column for The
Victoria Advocate. Dr. Jones is the current President of the Texas State
Genealogical Society, Treasurer for the International Society Family History
Writers and Editors and is an active member of many patriotic organizations.
