GEORGIA ARCHIVES NEWS

On Wednesday, September 10, 2003, at 3:00 p.m. the Georgia Archives will cut a cake to celebrate 85th birthday! The first annual report of the director of the department mentions that:

"In accordance with the provision of a law enacted by the 1918 session of the Legislature, a meeting of the State Historical Commission, composed of the heads of State Departments, was called for 3 o'clock in the afternoon, September 10, 1918, to organize the Department of Archives and History for the State of Georgia."

Please come and celebrate this auspicious occasion with us. If you've never been to the new building at 5800 Jonesboro Road in Morrow, the directions can be found on our website at www.GeorgiaArchives.org.
