Mahlon Erickson will speak on "Major Internet Projects--the Good, the Bad,
and the Ugly" at the August 5, 2002, general meeting of the Oklahoma
Genealogical Society. The program will include USGenWeb and other internet
sites of interest to family history researchers.

Mahlon, a 9th grade science teacher in Stillwater OK, has been doing
genealogy for 27 years. His current main areas of concentration are the
north central counties of Noble, Pawnee and Payne. Recently elected
Commander of the Dept. of Oklahoma, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil
War, Erickson has documented the burial locations of over 11,850 Union and
Confederate Civil war veterans in the state of Oklahoma. His other major
project is a short biographical sketch of all male Beckwith/Beckworth
family members who have lived in Canada or the US.

The meeting will be from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at the Wiley Post Historical
Building Auditorium, 2100 North Lincoln, Oklahoma City, OK. It is a general
meeting, open to the public and is free of cost. Volunteers will be on hand
at 5:00 p.m. to assist researchers who need help to start the search for
family history or need suggestions about where to look next.
