John C. Burks, Oklahoma State Registrar, will speak on "Oklahoma's Vital
Records" at the Monday, July 1, general meeting of the Oklahoma
Genealogical Society.

The program will include an overview of Oklahoma birth and death records,
the years covered, their use and management and the function of the vital
records division of the Oklahoma Health Department. Mr. Burke and his
staff will share their plans for the future use of records, including
imaging and accessibility of the records. He will also cover the
procedure involved in locating requested records and the best way to get
records needed.

The meeting will be from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at the Wiley Post Historical
Building Auditorium, 2100 North Lincoln, Oklahoma City, OK. It is a general
meeting, open to the public and is free of cost. Volunteers will be on hand
at 5:00 p.m. to assist researchers who need help to start the search for
family history or need suggestions about where to look next.
