18-19-20 July 2002 - The British Isles Family History Society - U. S. A. is
proud to announce their 15th annual Genealogical Seminar aboard the majestic
Queen Mary which is berthed at Long Beach, CA. Speakers will be Kyle Betit
on Ireland, Nancy Lee Bier on DNA, Else Churchill from London on English
records, Jan Gow from New Zealand, Linda Jonas on Colonial America and
Scotch-Irish records, Ivan C. Johnson on rural England, Beth McCarty on
English records, Barbara Renick on the internet, Lisa Schumaker on Beginning
Computers and the Palm Pilot, Dr. I. D. E. Thomas on Wales and Judith Eccles
Wight on Scotland.
Some of the lectures to be given are as follows:
Newspapers for Family Historians, Irish Land Records, North American Church
Records of Irish Immigrants, The Chapels of Wales, Irish Myths and
Superstitions, Sources for 17th century research, Researching the City of
London, Visiting the Society of Genealogists' Library in London, Have
Computer will Travel, Welsh Probate records, The Penal Laws in Ireland,
Tracking the footprints in New Zealand, Finding a Marriage, Occupational
Approach to Research in the British Isles, Scottish Probate Records,
Misconceptioins about Wales, Researching Irish Catholic Recoords, 18th
Century Irish Research and more.
There will be four workshops: Computer Research, Irish, English and
Scottish. Special research opportunity to do research on the Sunday
following the Seminar at the Los Angeles Family History Center, which has a
huge British collection of films, fiche, maps, etc.
