Subject: [GEN-EVENTS-L] Genealogical Society of Vermont Meeting

The Genealogical Society of Vermont will hold their spring meeting on
May 19, 2001, 9:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., at the Town and Country Resort,
Mountain Road (Route 108), Stowe, VT. Everyone is invited.
The meeting opens at 9:30 with registration and refreshments, followed
at 10:00 with a brief business meeting. At 10:30 the speaker will be
Rick Siemens, a naval doctor, speaking on one of the Revolutionary War
battles. At 11:30 Elise Guyette will speak on "Merging Census Data and
Literature: Reconstructing the Lives of African Americans in Early
Vermont." Ms. Guyette has an extensive background in educational and
scholarly research efforts with a particular interest in minorities in
Vermont; she will share insights about finding the history of
Vermonters
which should interest researchers with all kinds of Vermont background.
The luncheon will be at 12:30 p.m. and at 2:00 p.m. Ed Rhodes of the
Stowe Historical Society will be speaking. Adjournment is at 3:00 p.m.
Reservations need to be made by May 11th; the cost is $15 for GSV
members and $17 for non-members. Check should be sent to GSV, P.O. Box
