Greetings from NEHGS! I have included information for 5 of the New England
Historic Genealogical Society's upcoming programs. Please post them on your
website calendar or mailing lists. Thank you for your help.

NEHGS Education Program Coordinator
A few spaces still remain on NEHGS's annual "Come Home to New England"
program on August 8-15, 1999 at the NEHGS library in Boston. Search your
family roots at the extensive and newly renovated NEHGS Library, one of the
world's best facilities for genealogical research. This popular program
includes personal research consultations, private research time and
exclusive early library hours, and daily lectures on topics relevant to New
England genealogical research and methodology.
NEHGS presents "Computer Resources for Genealogists" at The Women's
Educational and Industrial Union in Boston, MA. Participants may choose to
attend our day-long seminar on either September 24 or September 25, 1999
from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Join NEHGS to learn about how computer software, the
Internet, and computer resources can enhance your search for family history.
NEHGS is hosting its Fourth Annual "Irish Genealogical Conference" held at
Lombardo's Conference Facility in Randolph, Massachusetts, on September 17
and 18, 1999. The conference will feature nineteen lectures specifically on
Irish genealogical topics, as well as three optional meals accompanied by
additional lectures. Participants may register for Friday (with or without
meals), Saturday (with or without meals) or both days (with or without
meals). Special NEHGS and TIARA member prices are available.
Thursdays in October 1999, join NEHGS for an intensive biannual course in
beginning your family history. The four-part "Genealogy 101" course taught
by acclaimed lecturer and genealogist Marcia Melnyk focuses on how-to
methods and concentrates on using NEHGS holdings and accessing data at other
repositories. The course is an excellent start for beginners in genealogy,
but also offers methods for those researchers looking for ways to better
organize their information and research strategies. Each session will
consist of two one-hour lectures with time for individual questions.
NEHGS is offering its annual "Research Program to Salt Lake City" from
November 14-21, 1999. This program brings the experience and knowledge of
our research staff to The Family History Library in Salt Lake City, which
houses the world's largest collection of genealogical data. This program
offers participants lectures on genealogical topics, personal research
consultations, group meals and other exciting activities.
Registration is required for all of the above programs. For more
information on these and other educational events please call toll-free at
1-888-AT-NEHGS (286-3447), or locally at (617) 536-5740, ext. 202. Visit
