Most scanners today typically come with at least 2 programs: an image
editor for photos and graphics and an OCR, or optical character
recognition program for text scanning. My Umax came with PhotoMax for
image scanning and OmniPage for text scanning and editing. Check to
see what programs came with your scanner. If yours did not come with
an OCR program, your best bet might be to find someone who has a
program and ask them to scan it for you. You can buy these programs
also. They can be expensive, but I think that a simple, no frills one
would do the trick. Mine is a limited edition version of the full
OmniPage program.
Good luck.
