Subject: Suggestion for local and poss. family newsletters.

Hello folks! I just got back from a wonderful trip to the Family History
Library in Salt Lake City and while poring over old issues of genealogy
society newsletters, I had some thoughts.

Indexing is great! I was so grateful to those who had an every-name
index for their newsletters, especially those who did it by volume with
continuous pagination, rather than those who did it issue by issue.

For some of the newsletters, I was happy to skim every page, but others,
where I wasn't sure I'd find anything, I was hoping to just look
in the index, but very often, it was really hard to find. All the pages
were the same, and I got to thinking, that it might be a bright idea to
have INDEX pages be a DIFFERENT COLOR than the pages of the regular
newsletter. That way, when they are bound, or just sitting in a stack
somewhere, people know exactly which section they want to flip to --
really easy to see.

One society had a variation on this, different color pages for every
issue, but I thought that made the issues printed on red or flaming orange
kind of hard on the eyes.

Best to you all!

Jen
