Hi Jennifer! I do my family newsletters and send them out on email only at no
charge. Just another way of doing it...I posted news about the newsletter in
several online forums and that gave me the intiial group. Then I started a
webpage. Word spread quickly and I have about 750 subscribers to the Howard
Newsletter.

I am in the middle of putting together a family history book. However,
reading Joan Marie's post has given me pause. I have been tossing the idea
of
putting together a newsletter for a while, and so joined this list. Could
someone give me some ideas on how you start? How do you decide who is going
to receive the newsletter? Do you solicit a "membership" to pay for the
postage and such? Do you solicit information and such to be put in the
newsletter, or is the editor the only one to put stuff in the newsletter? I
hope I don't sound too ignorant, but any clues would be GREATLY
appreciated...

Regards,
Jennifer
