Subject: How To Locate Old Portraits?

In researching Henry Key of Old Edgeflield Co., SC 1775, I found that a
portrait of him existed as late as abt 1931. I do not know who had this
portrait nor where it may have been located. My question is: "How do I go
about tracing this portrait if it does in effect exist today?" Could it be
in some library archives, etc.?. If someone has had this type of
experience, please respond to me.
