Everyone please watch your screen when you hit the reply button on your
mail program. I'm trying to set reply to respond to the list instead of
the original author only. It seems to be working some of the time,
sometimes not on my program. I'll get with staff at rootsweb on this and
make sure I've not boo-boo'd or something.

I think that Glenn and everyone is right with the 'ping-pong' message
interpretation. The way I have heard it described (should it happen
again, we will all know) is that the computer sends a message to which an
auto-respond responds, which the computer bounces out to all on the list
(including, note, the sender), to which the auto-respond responds,
etc.... Sort of a mail loop.

I believe that the staff at rootsweb has interrupted and ended (phew!!!
<wiping forehead>) the loop for now. This is probably why the sender's
address was not on the list when I went to unsub it.

I put out my quarterly 'free query offer' for The Southside Researcher
this week and my mailbox has kept me on my toes ever since! I wouldn't
trade it for anything at this point. My newsletter serves researchers
tracing families in a small geographical area (8 counties in southside
Virginia) and the free query offer is one of my all-out efforts to
connect some of these researchers. Last quarter it generated over 5
pages of two column queries printed in Arial 9 !

I'm trying to come up with a column idea for something interactive with
the readers. Any ideas? I've played with the idea of publishing readers
questions (maybe methodology particular to this area of VA) or a 'hit the
wall' column for those researchers who are running out of ideas and would
like to hear from others. Have any of you tried anything like this
before?
