Exchanging with other publishers......
<<Janet raised the question of sharing newsletters with other newsletter
publisher>>
One of my Newsletters is Taylors of America Newsletter
I exchange with other Taylor family publishers. In doing this, it helps me
to avoid duplication. In a name like Taylor, there are many routes to
follow. I have not desire to compete with the other Taylor publications. I
prefer to compliment them by covering areas that are not being covered by
them. I think there is room for all of us. I can see that it isn't
difficult for a person to subscribe to all the Taylor publications available.
My newsletter is larger then the other Taylor publications and more
expensive. I heavily concentrate on census records and cemetery records which
I extract. The only possible duplication would be queries. A subscriber
might submit a query to each of us. I don't really see that as a problem and
I would run it any way. I wouldn't want an article submitted to other Taylor
publications but a query would be fine. So, exchanges are helpful if you
want to be careful of duplications.
I also exchange with a Robinsons newsletter, for the same reason. As for the
Ballard newsletter, there are no publishers of this name. There was a Lady
that started one up after mine but for personal reasons had to stop. There
use to be a Ballard Family Association. I sure would like to find out what
they did with their files after they disolved.
