The comment recently about the 11x17 size run off by a printer was very
interesting. It would be so nice to have good quality photo reproductions.
I will check into how much 200 copies would be.
ACID FREE PAPER
Whatever we use, however, I think it is our duty to be sure that "acid
free" or "alkaline" paper is used to print our copies. Once upon a time,
this was far more costly than it is today. You see, many of the paper
mills have changed to an alkaline process, so much of the paper available
today is appropriate for our use. You just have to be a little smart about
it. I use a pH testing pen (I also sell them--$4 if anyone's interested)
and it lasts forever. Have questions about what your center uses? Just
test a sheet of the paper. It takes about 2 seconds.
Otherwise, you will see the copies deteriorate or "burn up" from the acid
in the paper over time. This becomes a real problem eventually for libraries.
If anyone is interested in a really good newsletter on this, I refer you to
"The Abbey Newsletter" and the "Alkaline Paper Advocate" both edited by

ISSN NUMBER
Speaking of things you "should" do, an ISSN is handy to have. It is a
serial number assigned to your newsletter and it allows librarians to
classify your work & therefore makes retrieval easier. You can apply for
it free (or at least it was free in 1995).
