Subject: ANNOUNCE - IIGS-IRC extra meetings
Date: Fri, 11 Jul 1997 14:02:11 +0000

Rootsweb hosts IRC at the International Internet Genealogical
Society (IIGS). Visit our web site at http://www.iigs.org/ .

The IIGS IRC service is the IIGS's first tool for genealogists,
hosted by Rootsweb.

Set up exclusively for genealogy, the IIGS IRC is open 24 hours
per day so genealogists around the world can meet. Brand new, do
not despair if there don't seem to be many people online, stay for a
while, or try again later.

To access this service, direct your IRC client to irc.IIGS.org, or
irc.rootsweb.com, port 6667 or 7000.

For help with using the IIGS IRC service email Graham Hart
, Wendy Garner , Laura
Cook <> or Holly Fee-Timm <.

Three regular general genealogy meetings have been scheduled to
accommodate the various time zones. All are welcome to attend any or
all of them.

Meetings will be held on the IIGS IRC server on the channel
#IIGS-meet, at the following times:

GMT
---
Sat 20:00
Sun 01:00
Sun 11:00

ALSO announcing the first of our themed sessions.

USmil-genealogy. We will be meeting every Sunday between 19:00 and
22:00 GMT on channel #IIGS-USMil. We will be researching the United
States military genealogy from the Revolutionary war through to
Desert Storm, concentrating on methods for finding our
relatives who served in these wars and what they did.

UK-genealogy. We will be meeting every Tuesday from 20:00 GMT on
channel #IIGS-UKgen. Anyone researching in the UK is welcome to
attend.

For conversions to your time zone, a useful Web site is

Best wishes

Camilla
