>QRYTEXT: Am seeking information on my Great Grandfather, JAMES W. JOHNSON,
born October 7, 1863, died Feb. 25, 1899, married to MARY ELLA BURNEY BROWN
on May 5, 1887 in Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia. I have a copy of an
Obituary written by Mrs. C. H. Smith of New Smyrna, Florida which states as
follows: "My first acquaintance with this dear orphan boy was at the
Parsonage in Ellaville, Ga. [Schley County], where he lived with REV. J. B.
WARDLAW's family". Does anyone have any information about the Wardlaws or
Johnsons - was there an epidemic of some sort after he was born that would
have taken both parents and left him an orphan? Any information would be
appreciated.
