That makes sense. Since you told me about the Tribbles, I've found that Oliver's son, Elmer Washington Petty, was living with the Tribbles in 1900 when he was 6 years old. (Oliver's 1st wife had died and their other 2 sons were living with her parents. I haven't located their daughter yet.)
