Gladyse Kennemore Barrett of Cumming, Forsyth County, Georgia, has passed
away. She died Monday.
She was the daughter of Augustus Cone and Luella McClure Kennemore. She was
a teacher and a counselor, and she and her husband, Dean, were the
researchers who worked behind the scenes to ensure the Veteran's War
Memorial in Forsyth County honored that county's deceased war veterans. She
wrote several items of historical interest for Forsyth County and Cumming
researchers, including "Historical Account of Cumming Forsyth County
Georgia" published in 1993, a 28 page review of Cumming's history; "The
History of the Cumming United Methodist Church", and "Daring to die that
freedom might live" and "Stroll Around the Square" published in 1988, a
book about the Square in Cumming and what buildings were there.
Visitation is today at Ingram's Funeral Home from 10:30 am - 4 pm and again
from 6 pm - 9 pm. The funeral is tomorrow, Thursday, June 8, 2006 at 1pm at
Ingram's chapel.
There is an obituary in today's Atlanta Journal-Constitution on page B6.
