According to Ernest Sherrill, James Vann was buried in the Blackburn
Cemetery on the Old Federal Road in NW Forsyth County. (next to the tavern
pictured
on our main page)
There is no tombstone.
According to several books, there was one with an inscription. The verse is
in Forest Wade's book "Cry of the Eagle" and I have seen it other places.
At one point, the State excavated a grave that was pointed out to them as
that of Vann's. However the results of the tests seemed to prove that it was
not
Vann.
