Sam Anderson,

I noticed in your site http://www.angelfire.com/ga/gaancestors that John Whitmire's sibling was: Lucinda Whitmire who married Valentine Nix bef Apr 1831. Do you have any info on Valentine Nix. I do not think that this is the same Valentine Nix but, there is a Valentine Nix, born 06-23-1822 and died 02-12-1894 buried at Hightower Baptist Church Cemetery in N. E. Cherokee Co., Ga., close to the Cherokee and Forsyth Co. line. Next to Valentine Nix is Cyntha Nix, wife of V. Nix, born 03-30-1822 and died 05-16-1893. My ggg-grandmother was Lucinda "Lucy" Elizabeth Nix born 1808 in SC and died 11-18-1902 and was buried in the Fowler Family Cemetery in N. E. Cherokee Co., GA, which is located south of Hightower Baptist Church. Lucy married a William Marcus Fowler born 1803 in SC and died 11-21-1884 and is also buried in the Fowler Family Cemetery. I beleive that Lucy is related to that Valentine Nix. William Fowler and Lucy Fowler-Nix were the parents of Charles "Charlie"!
B. Fowler who married Georgia Ann "Georgian" Caroline Campbell, my gg-grandparents. My g-grandparents were Lena Gertrude Fowler who married Charles Wesley "Wes" Edwards. My grandparents were Ether Loma Edwards who married Lewis Grafton Howard. My parents are James Broughton Howard who married Betty Lou Holbrook. I am Cary Wayne Howard and I married Martha Jeanette Chandler-Wilbanks.
My Grandfather Lewis Grafton Howards' mother was Jeanette "Nettie" Howard. Nettie was never married and had my grandfather out of wedlock. Netties' parents were Jeremiah A. "Jerry" Howard who married Anna Lucinda "Cindy" Barnwell. Jerrys' parents were Thomas B. Howard, Sr. who married Martha E. Crane. Thomas Sr.s' parents were Thomas Howard who married Elizabeth (Madien Name Unknown).
I give you this background info because I also noticed that Stephen M. Whitmire, Lucinda Whitmire-Nixs' Father, was the son of Michael Whitmire, Sr. I have found that Michael Whitmire, Sr. had a son older than Stephen, named Michael Whitmire, Jr. whose wife was named Nancy and that they were the parents of Michael Whitmire, III who married Mary Findley/Fendley, daughter of Moses Findley/Fendley and Margaret Peggy Robertson. Moses Findley/Fendley had a son named James R. Findley/Fendley who married Catherine Whitmire. Catherine Whitmire was the daughter of Christopher Columbus Whitmire, Sr. who married Lucinda "Betty" Mauldin. Christopher Columbus Whitmire was a younger brother to Michael Whitmire, Jr. and Stephen M. Whitmire.
My interests lies with James R. Fendley. I show that Forsyth Co., GA records show Deed Book L, July 22, 1854, James R. Findley, Adm. to the Estate of William Whitmire, dec'd., sold to Thomas Howard lots 596, 663, 664, and 673 in the 14th Dist., 1st. Sec. of Forsyth Co., Ga... witness S. M. I. Howard and James P. Jinkins. Moses Greer is mentioned in this transaction. It is my beleif that the William Whitmire who owned this land in Forsyth Co., Ga. lived in Gilmer Co., Ga. at the time of his death, because Moses Greer was a county clerk in Gilmer Co., Ga. William Whitmire was a son of Michael Whitmire, Sr. and younger brother to Michael Jr., Stephen M. and Christopher Columbus Whitmire. William Whitmire was born about 1775 and I beleive that he was born in Pickens Co., SC because I found where William Whitmire inherited his father's home place in Pickens Co., SC and appears in the Census Returns of Pickens 1800-1830. By 1840 he was living in Gilmer Co., GA, where he !
is recorded in the census with one male age 10-5, one male age 50-60, one female age 50-60 and one female age 80-90. William Whitmire married Elizabeth Reese, daughter of Peter Reese, Sr. and Barbara Martin. Elizabeth Reese had a brother named Samuel M. Reese who married Elizabeth Fendley-Howard on Feb. 28, 1856 in Forsyth Co., GA per Marriage Book C, Page 72. Elizabeth Fendley was a sister to Mary Fendley and a daughter of Moses Fendley and Margaret Peggy Robertson-Fendley. Elizabeth Fendley is listed as Elizabeth Howard in the Forsyth Co., GA marriage record mentioned above.
Due to all of these connections, My interest is in any information about the Whitmires, Reeses, and Howards of the Pickens Co., SC area and Forsyth/Dawson/Gilmer Co., Ga. area. Since James R. Fendley was the administrator of William Whitmires' Estate and since James R. Fendley was the brother of Elizabeth Fendley who married a Howard and who later married Samuel M. Reese in Forsyth Co., Ga. and was also the brother of Mary Fendley who married Michael Whitmire, III, this connection would have made James R. Fendley, I see a close relationship between these families. The Nix family may be a diffrent line, but I noticed that your Anderson line lived in the southern part of Forsyth Co., GA.
Your worldconnect.rootsweb message dated Mar. 20, 1999 stated "My grandfather John HOWARD ANDERSON b 1892-d 1958-buried at Cross Plains Baptist Church, Forsyth co.Ga. His siblings were Victoria,Delar, Edgar D.,James Albert,Jasper Franklin,Nubia J.,Bunia Vista & Claarence Chester Anderson. John Howard's father was William Albert Anderson b 1850-d 1937,buried at Cross Plains Baptist church, Forsyth co.Ga. William Albert's siblings were Cary, Jemimah, Mary C.,Martha E.,Nancy C. Jamima,Parentha Jane,John J.,Thomas,Lardy/Lordy & Harriett Anderson. William Albert's father was James Albert Anderson b 1816/1820 in Darlington co.,S.C. He was married to Calender G. James in Forsyth co Ga on 8 Apr 1838. Can anyone identify with this family?"
Do you have any info on any Howards in your family or related to the Fendleys?
Thanks,
Wayne Howard
