Subject: [GAFORSYT] Protecting Donated Material

Peggy Young shared her input with me and has had problems with her donated
material disappearing in the past as changes were made on different pages.
She is concerned about continuity.

She had good points and I want to make some suggestions.
Regardless of good intentions, material can be lost . It is so easy to have a
computer glitch or a server loss or hit a delete button by accident.
Sometimes the new person just doesn't have the skills. Remember how you all
suffered through with me learning how to make some of the pages do what we
wanted them to do.

When you donate material, as soon as it is put online:
Go to your computer and make a file folder.
Call it donated or some name you will recognize.
Go to your material on the web.
With Internet Explorer
Click on File
Then Click on Save As
Make sure at the top that the "save in" points has the path to your folder.
Then at the bottom where it says "save as" choose web page complete.
Save the file to your own computer and back it up to disk.
That way if it is lost, all you will have to do is email it back as an
attachment and it can be replaced easily.

I am sure someone could explain how to do this on a Mac for us. I am not sure
how Web TV would work.
