I received some additional information on James Hamilton Roper of Forsyth
County. I am going to paste in the new information below to see if it jogs
anybody's mind:

Descendants of James Hamilton Roper

First Generation

1. James Hamilton1 Roper, son of John Roper and Tabitha Byrum was
born in South Carolina about 1837.

He married Nepsy Ann Cape in Forsyth County, Georgia, June 29,
1854. Nepsy was born in Georgia between 1832 and 1836. She was the
daughter of Merriman Cape and Charlotte Holbrook. Nepsy may be a nickname
for Penelope or Priscilla.

James Hamilton Roper and Nepsy Ann Cape had the following children:

+ 2 i. John C.2 Roper was born about 1856.
+ 3 ii. Martha J. Roper was born April 14, 1859.
4 iii. Vinete Roper was born about 1862. A Sarah V. Roper
married a William Cantrell January 11, 1883, in Forsyth County. This may
indicate that "Sarah V." was Vinete's full name.

Second Generation

2. John C.2 Roper (James Hamilton1) was born about 1856.

He married Ella Allen October 4, 1876. The marriage records show
her first name as "Eller." This was a common pronounciation of "Ella."

John C. Roper and Ella Allen had the following child:

+ 5 i. Lona Leone3 Roper.

3. Martha J.2 Roper (James Hamilton1) was born in Georgia April
14, 1859. Martha died September 27, 1888 in Forsyth County, Georgia, at 29
years of age.

She married Andrew H. Stewart February 15, 1880. Andrew was born
in Pickens County, South Carolina December 7, 1857. Andrew died April 8,
1936 in Forsyth County, Georgia, at 78 years of age.

Martha J. Roper and Andrew H. Stewart had the following children:

6 i. Anthony Wayne3 Stewart was born in Forsyth
County, Georgia March 16, 1881. Anthony died March 20, 1960 in Hall
County, Georgia, at 79 years of age.
7 ii. Clyde N. Stewart was born in Foryth County, Georgia
May 1883.
8 iii. John Abner Stewart was born in Forsyth County,
Georgia November 8, 1885. John died November 12, 1962 in Forsyth County,
Georgia, at 77 years of age. He married Maude E. Bramblett December 31,
1916. Maude was born July 24, 1888. Maude died January 14, 1978 in
Cherokee County, Georgia, at 89 years of age.
9 iv. James E. Stewart was born in Georgia September 1888.

Third Generation

5. Lona Leone3 Roper (John C.2, James Hamilton1) birth date
unknown. Lona died May 12, 1973 in Spartanburg County, Spartanburg, South
Carolina.

She married David Oscar Cheatam. David died 1967 in Spartanburg
County, Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Lona Leone Roper and David Oscar Cheatam had the following children:

+ 10 i. Ethel Lee4 Cheatam.
11 ii. Etta Mae Cheatam.
12 iii. Clyde Cheatam.
13 iv. Franklin Cheatam.
14 v. Roy Cheatam.

Fourth Generation

10. Ethel Lee4 Cheatam (Lona Leone3 Roper, John C.2, James
Hamilton1) birth date unknown.

She married L. J. Smith.

Ethel Lee Cheatam and L. J. Smith had the following child:
