I am looking for information on a John (the English equivalent of a Finnish given name?) ERVASTI sid to have been born Sep 1859 in Finland.

He immigrated to the USA in 1881, and married 5 years later in the US to a Britta Kallunki who was born Sep 1857 in Finland and who had been previously been married to a ____STEDMEDD, by whom she had one child born in the US.

John ERVASTI, on census records from Houghton County, Michigan, was said to be a miner/farmer.

I understand that there were agents who procured Finnish miners to come to that area of Michigan to work in the copper mines in those early days. Some have said that there were special measures taken to obtain many from Finland for this .

Can anyone help me with emigration to the US in the years around 1881, and specifically in looking for a ERVASTI born 1859 and emigrated in 1881?
