And yes, someone else wrote that line originally! If you know how to
read the > and << you would see that this is a quote of something that
you quoted.

See I quoted what you wrote, thus one > in front of what you added as
new text. The > > is what you quoted and the > > << is what was quoted
from previous messages. It is not all being attributed to you.

When I was doing BBSing, the Blue Wave Off-Line Mail Reader had the
capability of placing each person's initials before the > sign, thus a
multi-quoted statement would appear as so: AA> BB> CC>. CC would have
been the original poster of the statement, BB would have quoted it in
his/her message and AA would have quoted it from BB's message.

I hope this makes things a little clearer. LOL
