Just started researching my mother's adopted parents:

Edith Annie CORTHINE, born 29 March 1901, registered Lambeth (died
1981, Brent).

married William Andrew DEAN in 1925,

their children were:
Ellen DEAN
William DEAN
Olive DEAN
Rose DEAN
Colin DEAN
plus my mum Gwendoline, adopted 1948.

David CORTHINE was deaf and was Edith's brother, and there were many
other siblings. Their parents are thought to have come from
Pittlewell(Prittlewell?), near Southend.

I'd be grateful to hear from anyone who knows more about the Corthine
family.

The fact my mum was "only" an adopted daughter is irrelevant - Edith
Annie was the grandma I knew, loved, miss terribly - and didn't ask
about her ancestors!
