Ann,
Are you positive the one in 1914 is an actual marriage and not just a
registering of the 1907 marriage? Did the couple live in Denmark for 7 yrs
then return to England? Is it possible one of them was actually a citizen
of another country? Although a great many years later, my husband was sent
to Canada with the Royal Navy, met and married me, a Canadaian. Our
marriage had to be registered with the British Consulate, in Ottawa. Our
understanding of the reason for this was to protect me, making our marriage
legal under British law when I arrived in England. Also gave me certain
rights as a mother, if and when we had children. We have two marriage
certificates, one Canadian and one British. The date of the marriage is on
both, but the registration dates are different, one in '66 and the other
'67. Know your situation is about 50 years earlier, but wondered if the
circumstances could have been somewhat similar?
Regards,
Trena.
