HE joined the Alhambra orchestra in about 1928 and played there
continuously for around 30 years until he retired in the late 1950s.

Of course, he worked for Francis Laidler, the great Bradford
theatrical impressario who built the Alhambra and opened it in 1914.
I have a super book on it called "Domes of Delight" by the former
theatre critic of the Bradford Telegraph & Argus Peter Holdsworth,
published in 1989.

The Alhambra these days is a civic theatre (belonging to the council)
and very resplendent.
