The confusion may be because Tydd St Giles is in Cambridgeshire but Tydd St
Mary is in Lincolnshire and these are directly opposite each other on the
border. I would suggest that you ignore the previous researchers advice and
obtain the birth certificate for Joseph, that will show definitely where he
was born. Only rely on somebody's information as notation always finalise
yourself.
