Surrey Street isn't on any maps I have of Liverpool (there is one in
Bootle, but I doubt if it was there in the 1850s). There are a number of
roads with County or Town names to the south of St. James' Church.
Surrey Street might have been built - but perhaps (like Bedford Street,
renamed Beaufort Street) it was renamed later, as some dignitary, battle
or whatever came along - or to fill a "set" of themed names, like the
"Dickens" streets in the same area.
The Brooks' were a notable family - Archdeacon Jonathan Brooks (d.1856)
getting himself a statue in St George's Hall - much to Picton's disgust
(on the basis that the place would soon be full if every clergyman who
did his job was to be so honoured!).
