Hello Syl,
For the first problem, it looks as though you will have to
begin searching under all the misspellings that you can think of--e.g.
Copper, Crooper, Cripper, Crapper, Croppen, etc., etc.
It is also possible that the marriage was missed during the indexing--or
that they never actually married.
As for the second problem--is their birth year actually recorded as 1886, or
were they listed on the census as being a certain age? If so, their years of
birth may actually be 1885 and/or 1886. If a person had not yet reached
their birthday at the time that the census was taken, they may have been
listed as age 6, for example but they would be age 7 by the end of the
census year.
If you can locate the family in city directories during these years, the
area of your search may be much narrower.
Good luck with your research!
Regards,
Kathy
